Social Equity
SIUC has a rich history of and committment to diversity and social equity.
In 1999 we brought on board an Associate Chancellor for Diversity. Other great initiatives such as the Office of Diversity & Equity and Committee on Diversity and Tolerance were soon to follow. For more, visit our Diversity History Database. Most recently in the Spring of 2007, the GLBT Resource Center was formed. Be sure to also see our many multicultural programs.
SIUC has also moved toward making its logo use and trademark licensing more sustainable by signing up with the Worker's Rights Consortium (WRC). The WRC works to ensure that college and university logos are not placed on clothing items made in sweatshops.
